It is with great pleasure that Laura incorporates a blend of artistry and functional fitness into her class offerings and private training. Through "Relaxed Ballet: An Exercise Alternative", and "The Listening Body", Laura has developed a curriculum which offers a means of cultivating an awareness of the body mind connection through the scaffolding provided by various movement techniques including dance, yoga and Pilates and sound biomechanical principles coupled with progressive relaxation and meditation. Her philosophy and practice are based on the premise that an informed body allows for a restful, vital state of being and moving. This state creates dynamic physical change as well as a refreshed outlook where one might move with greater ease "in harmony with the laws of nature."

Laura brings a lifetime of passionate dedication and commitment to her study of the body. It was through the art of dance that she discovered endless fascination in the body's dynamic potential as a tool of expression and physical performance. Ballet is a form that she has had the good fortune to study since childhood with some of the great teachers and choreographers including, Mary Day, Sonja Dragomanovic and Mark Morris. She has a Bachelors Degree in Performing Arts with an emphasis in Modern Dance and has been a member of two dance companies. Laura is a Certified Instructor of the New York City Ballet Workout, has an ACSM approved Advanced Personal Fitness Training Certification and has been a student of Bartenieff Fundamentals, a system devised by a Physical Therapist to encourage efficient movement functioning. As an intern with a Yoga Therapist and a student of Viniyoga she has explored methods which allow her students to more fully adapt forms to their own unique structural needs. To continue her exploration and refine her teaching skills, Laura has completed a Teacher Training Certification in Level I of the Franklin Method, at the Movements Afoot Studio in New York City. This cutting edge approach to movement education is part of the legacy of Ideokinesis which uses imagery to develop the mind body connection in order to improve coordination, ease and function in the body. It has a myriad of applications.

Currently, Laura is on the staff of UCSD's RIMAC, and the San Dieguito Adult School , as well as an Instructor at Foundation Yoga, in Solana Beach, California. Through her company, Listening Body, Laura offers educationally based private training services for functional exercise and wellness, rehabilitation and stress reduction which can be scheduled by appointment. Workshops and small group training sessions can also be arranged.
