About Laura Ann

For 40 years Laura Ann Wolfe has worked to offer people the insight that an informed body is free to enjoy its full potential. Laura Ann views her work as active research in exploring all benefits of human movement and mind/body practice. Working with individuals who have a diverse set of needs — from those interested in health and wellness to people in need of post-rehabilitative care — is essential to the holistic point of view that Laura Ann offers.

Laura Ann Wolfe, RSME, RMT is a former professional dancer who keeps both her passion for physical movement and her study of the human body alive through active inquiry and practice. Her experience and training embrace both the art and science of human movement and somatic awareness. She is devoted to sharing the miracle of embodiment as a currency for understanding our human experience and to bearing witness to each individual’s unfolding story and alchemy.

Intertwining age-old traditions and current research-based approaches, Laura Ann provides support and guidance to explore a spectrum of concerns that may manifest or be reflected in the body. These concerns may include understanding and facilitating the re-routing process of pain patterns, unwinding anxiety and stress, developing personal daily movement/meditation practice or sequencing movement progressions for health and wellness. This is a fluid and often surprising process of discovery.

Laura Ann offers a multi-faceted and balanced approach to Movement Education which has made her an innovator in the field of mind-body practice, having created several movement curricula including Re-Membering Ourselves: The Body as Memoir, Kinesthetic Chi and Relaxed Ballet. She has taught in academic settings and private studios for 40 years. Laura Ann is the previous Director of the Dance for Parkinson's Program for the Parkinson's Association of San Diego. Her explorations have led her to study the ancient manual practice of Acupressure in order to add touch to her offerings: Movement, Breath, and Relaxation. It is her great privilege to be a student of Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen and her seminal body of work: Body Mind Centering. She is a member of the Body Mind Centering Association (BMCA), and both a Registered Somatic Movement Educator and Registered Movement Therapist through the International Somatic Movement Educators and Therapists Association (ISMETA).

Laura Ann holds a BA in Dance and has acquired professional accreditation from several organizations including: Meridian Therapy and Five Elements, Acupressure Training Completion with Michael Reed Gach, Certified Medical Exercise Specialist through the American Academy of Health, Fitness and Rehabilitation Professionals, Franklin Method Educator, and Advanced Personal Trainer approved by the American College of Sports Medicine.

Her greatest teachers and sources of unmatched joy have been her soul mate of over 40 years, two magnificent human beings who happen to be her children, and two divine creatures who happen to be her grandchildren. Laura Ann would also like to give a deep bow of appreciation to her mentors, guides and clients along the way who have inspired love, reverence, exuberance and curiosity for life and the exquisite mysteries of the body.
